  • Our trainings are intended as preventive educational resources to support mental wellness. They are not intended to diagnose, manage, or treat mental health concerns.

     

    While our resources have been designed and vetted by clinical experts, based on decades of research on effective tools, and offer strategies that individuals may find helpful in managing stress and promoting mental wellness, they are not a replacement for professional mental health care.

    Emergency rooms are trained for mental health crises. 

     

    Mobile crisis teams and specialized behavioral health emergency rooms are available in some areas.

    Military Members (Active or Reserves), Veterans, and Their Families

    • Your embedded behavioral health professional (e.g., director of psychological health [DPH] or regional social worker [RSW]) can provide local referrals.

    • Contact inTransition at 800-424-7877 or find out more.

      • A free, confidential program available to all military members and veterans, regardless of length of service or discharge status—including active-duty service members, National Guard members, reservists, veterans, and retirees—who need access to a new mental health provider or wish to initiate mental health care for the first time.

    • The Cohen Veterans Network offers evidence-based care to military and veteran families across much of the country.

    • Private therapy

      • Use PsychologyToday.com to search for providers in your area by specialization and insurance.

      • You can contact your, or your spouse’s, company’s employee assistance program (EAP). EAPs typically offer a set number of free sessions per year. The information is typically listed on the company website (HR or benefits section), but is completely confidential.

      • Call or search online for providers through your insurance.

    • Vet Centers provide free counseling to Service Members and Veterans who have experienced combat, MST, or had other specific service experiences.

    Veterans

    • The Veterans Health Administration (VHA)—often referred to as “the VA”—offers free care for any service-connected disability, regardless of income. The VHA is separate from the Veterans Benefit Administration (VBA), which handles claims. The VA is often one of the best ways to access evidence-based care and also offers couples therapy.
